I work for Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com) and as you may notice from my plugin authorship list, I like writing WordPress plugins and can’t help writing more. I also contribute to the WordPress core when I can. You can find my personal blog at Alex.blog.

WordPress Origin Story

I was originally using b2/cafeblog for my website when I learned it was dying, so I checked out this new thing called “WordPress” as well as the other fork of b2 called “b2evolution”. At the time b2evolution was a lot better than WordPress (version 0.71) so I went with b2evo and ran it for quite a while. A few years later I checked out WordPress again (version 1.5), found it to have improved a ton, and so I switched and you can still see the first post I made on WordPress back in 2005. I’ve been using and hacking away at WordPress ever since and it eventually turned into a career at Automattic!
