Overview

Redirectioner is a WordPress plugin designed to give admins comprehensive control over dead links and URL redirects directly from the admin panel. By automatically recording all visited URLs, the plugin allows admins to effortlessly create 301 and 302 redirects to valid pages, ensuring users are directed to the content they were likely seeking. Key features include listing 404 URLs as they occur, providing suggested pages when an automatic redirect isn't possible, and creating redirects for misspelled tag and category pages. Additionally, Redirectioner maintains logs of 404 hits and redirects, automatically removes obsolete redirects, and provides essential usage statistics. This functionality enhances the user experience by eliminating 404 errors and maintaining smooth navigation for site visitors. For support or to report bugs, users can visit the GitHub repository to create new issues.

User sentiment analysis

Users appreciate the WordPress plugin for its ease of setting up redirects, comprehensive options, and effective 404 error logging. It is praised for being more useful than many paid plugins, with a simple UI that makes it easy to use. Several reviewers mentioned its capability to increase visitor counts significantly by fixing broken links, which is particularly beneficial after site migrations or restructuring. However, the plugin has several drawbacks. Users encounter issues like disappearing URLs, unreliability for consistent 404 capture, lack of updates and maintenance, and conflicts with other plugins or WordPress features. Some users also experience a need for manual tweaks and improved default settings, which can be time-consuming. The plugin's handling of URLs with variables also poses challenges for advanced users.

The functionality this plugin offers is incredible. More useful than any of the paid plugins I’ve purchased. Please ensure you keep updating this – I think you can have a real powerhouse here, along the lines of Yoast etc.

After spending a considerate amount adding old URL’s they just disappeared for no reason. Also, the plugin does not capture any 404 URL’s.

This plugin is not reliable at all. Many times I have set 404 redirects in this plugin only to come back a few days later and find all redirects gone.
