Overview

Advanced Automatic Updates is a powerful WordPress plugin designed to enhance the platform's native Automatic Updates capabilities. It extends support beyond security patches to include automatic installation of major releases, plugins, themes, and even routine SVN checkouts. Particularly beneficial for those managing Wordpress Multisite installations, the plugin ensures that update options are appropriately confined to the Network Admin. While immensely useful for the majority of WordPress sites, users should proceed with caution if they have custom themes or plugins, as these could potentially be affected by automatic updates.

User sentiment analysis

Users appreciate the plugin's simplicity, ease of use, and effectiveness in automating updates for WordPress core, themes, and plugins, which helps maintain site security and saves them considerable time. It’s particularly helpful for managing multiple websites, as it eliminates the need to manually check for updates constantly. However, some drawbacks include failures in executing updates reliably for all sites, issues with email update notifications, and a lack of detailed logs for completed updates. Despite these issues, many users find it indispensable for maintaining site security and easing the administrative burden of updates.

Te despreocupas de estar entrando continuamente al blog para actualizar los plugins. Se actualizan solos. Muy recomendable.

After I couldn’t get the popular Easy Updates Manager plugin working, I looked for an alternative, and then found Advanced Automatic Updates. The plugin perfectly works, and even updates premium themes’ plugins (not only WordPress.org plugins). Sadly the email update notifications doesn’t work just yet, and having a log of completed updates would also be useful.
