Overview

This WordPress plugin facilitates the integration of images into navigation menu items by allowing users to upload and set images directly from the menu edit screen. By default, these images replace the text for the respective menu items. Users can also configure images to display on hover or when the menu item corresponds to the current page. The plugin offers customization options for developers through various filters and the ability to create child classes, ensuring flexibility in image display methods. However, for an optimal appearance, users are encouraged to apply their custom CSS styles. The plugin builds on foundational code from the now-defunct Custom Menu Images by Anabelle Handdoek and Metronet Profile Picture by Ronald Huereca/Metronet Norge AS, ensuring robust functionality and ease of use.

Image Upload for Menu Items

  • Allows uploading images for navigation menu items.

  • Set images for the currently displayed page.

Developer Customization

  • Many filters available for custom image display.
  • Option to create a child class on top of the base class.

  • Recommended to create custom CSS for better appearance.

User sentiment analysis

Users appreciate this WordPress plugin for its simplicity, ease of use, and its ability to fulfill specific needs efficiently. Users highlight its excellent quality of code, fast loading times, and lightweight nature, which does not interfere with the core functionalities of WordPress. The plugin is particularly praised for how it helps set images in menus, though some users have had difficulties finding out how to assign images to hover states. However, drawbacks include compatibility issues with various themes, lack of functionality in multisite environments, no documentation or settings page, and incompatibility with certain security plugins, which causes errors. Overall, it's useful but has its limitations.

This is “half” the equation for the purpsoe. If you hide a menu item with this plugin, this does not mean that search engines can’t see it. Be SURE and also password protect any pages you want to protect. As stated, you will need additional an additional plugin to control access to conbtent. This plugin ONLY hides the menu item, but again, not from search engines. Beware! This topic was modified 7 years, 4 months ago by jemcbade.

I tried this on a multisite install but it didn’t work – the option to upload an image just didn’t appear at all

Does what it’s supposed to. Would love the possibility to choose wether or not to replace all link content – would be nice if the link text would still be shown + adding a custom class to image. This topic was modified 7 years, 9 months ago by mathiasholmbo.
