Overview

This WordPress plugin allows users to generate a shareable link for anonymous users to preview a draft post or any other public post type before it is published. It is particularly useful for collaborating with individuals who do not have direct access to your site but need to review content. The plugin achieves this by creating a URL with an expiring nonce, ensuring temporary access for the preview. To use it, simply check a box below the edit post area, and a link will be generated for sharing. You can disable the preview at any time by unchecking the box. Initially maintained by Matt Martz, based on an idea by Jonathan Dingman, the plugin offers a straightforward solution for public post previews.

Share a link to anonymous users

  • Allows sharing of a draft post with users who do not have site access.
  • Generates a unique URL for public preview.

Expiring nonce for security

  • The generated URL includes an expiring nonce for added security.
  • Ensures that the preview link is only valid for a limited time.

Easy to enable and disable

  • Enable public preview by checking a box below the edit post box.
  • Disable the preview by simply unchecking the box.

Simple sharing process

  • Once enabled, the preview link is displayed and can be copied.
  • Easily share the link with friends or collaborators.

User sentiment analysis

Users appreciate this WordPress plugin for its simplicity and efficiency in sharing draft posts without requiring login credentials, making it ideal for collaboration with clients or team members. It integrates well with the publishing workflow and helps share previews, gather feedback, and approve content before publication. Users find it especially beneficial for content approval, guest blogging, and providing exclusive access to newsletters. However, a significant drawback is the default 48-hour expiration for preview links, which many users find too short. While there's a workaround involving manual coding or additional plugins, users prefer an easier built-in option. Additionally, compatibility issues with some themes and editors have been reported. Despite these concerns, the plugin remains highly valued for its core functionality.

I have been using this plugin for a very long time and like it. but I just don’t understand why there is no setting where I can specify the validity period of the link. That would be so easy. Instead, I have to either manually mess around in the code or install a SEPARATE PLUGIN that does this really very simple job. The plugin is really great, but apparently they just stopped at the crucial point. Really a great pity. This topic was modified 1 year, 3 months ago by dosimo.
