Overview

The Hit Counter plugin for WordPress is a lightweight solution designed to track and display the number of unique visitors and page-views on your website, without causing performance issues. Key features include an AJAX-based counter that ignores most bots or crawlers, providing reliable metrics, and an admin dashboard that includes monthly and weekly graphs for traffic analysis. The counter continues to function even without active widgets or shortcodes, ensuring consistent data collection. Users can also reset the counter to any desired number at any time. This plugin is ideal for website owners looking to monitor and showcase their site's traffic seamlessly.

User sentiment analysis

Users appreciate the plugin for its simplicity and functionality in displaying page visits and unique visitors. It serves users looking for a straightforward tool to monitor site traffic. However, there are significant drawbacks: a lack of support, compatibility issues with WP 5.8, and major glitches leading to incorrect visitor counts. Users report frustration with persistent bugs, such as inflated visitor numbers, which remain unresolved due to ineffective support. While some find it meets their needs for basic traffic monitoring, they desire more customization options for layout settings.

This plugin has ZERO support, doesn’t work right anymore and not compatible with WP 5.8. Pitty.

I have been using this plugin on various sites now for years. It continues to function simply, and yet has everything you would want to display page visits and unique visitors. Looking for simple and works? This is it.

This plugin worked great for a long time, but all of a sudden, it is displaying 32,893 visitors. While I wish that was the case, it’s way off. And if I use the plugin control panel settings to reset it to something sane like 7300, as soon as it refreshes its back again to over 32,000. Sounds like a short/long integer problem? Shows Visitors or Pageviews. Important for me: individual Start-Values. Some Settings for Layout or something would be nice.
