Overview

The X3P0 Legacy Widget plugin for WordPress enables the integration of classic widgets within the modern block editor environment. Designed to be compatible with block-based themes such as Twenty Twenty-Two, it allows users to employ traditional widgets through the site editor, enhancing compatibility with third-party plugins that have not yet transitioned to the block system. This plugin serves as a temporary solution, providing a seamless transition until developers can update their plugins to support the block framework. Users are encouraged to communicate with developers about long-term plans for block support or seek alternative plugins with block functionality. Please note that while the Legacy Widget block is a core feature of WordPress and not created by this plugin, issues related to its functionality should be reported in the Gutenberg project repository. Additionally, widget options are only accessible via the site editor and may not be fully functional for third-party widgets, especially those with custom JavaScript.

User sentiment analysis

Users find the plugin generally effective but have encountered some issues. They appreciate the overall functionality, though there is a problem with setting widget parameters in version 6.1. Another drawback noted is that the Jetpack Cookies banner is incompatible with the new block editor, rendering the accept button non-functional. Despite these issues, users are proactive in seeking support to resolve the problems.

This plugin itself works great, although found that the Jetpack Cookies banner doesn’t work with the new block editor. It shows but you can’t click to accept. I’ll reach out directly.
