1. Microsoft Partners with Mistral AI to Expand Azure AI Offerings
   
   

   Microsoft has announced a partnership with French startup Mistral AI to integrate its artificial intelligence models into the Azure cloud computing platform. This collaboration signifies Microsoft's efforts to diversify its AI offerings beyond its substantial investment in OpenAI, aiming to attract more customers to its Azure cloud services. As part of the deal, Microsoft will host Mistral's latest proprietary model, Mistral Large, on Azure, providing access to Azure customers. 
   
   

   While Mistral disclosed that Microsoft would take a minority stake in the startup, Microsoft clarified that it holds no equity in the company. Mistral AI focuses on developing open source and proprietary large language models (LLM), akin to OpenAI's ChatGPT, capable of understanding and generating human-like text.
   
   

2. Jeff Bezos, Nvidia, and Microsoft Back Figure AI’s Humanoid Robot Development
   
   

   Figure AI, a startup specializing in humanoid robotics, has received a substantial funding of $675 million, backed by tech giants including Jeff Bezos, Nvidia, and Microsoft. This investment, which values the company at $2.6 billion, underscores the confidence of major players in artificial intelligence in Figure AI's innovative approach. Founded in 2022, Figure AI has developed Figure 01, a humanoid robot capable of emulating human movements. The company aims to deploy these robots in sectors such as manufacturing, shipping, warehousing, and retail to address labor shortages. 

    

3. Google Halts Gemini AI's Image Generation Amid Controversy
   
   

   Google temporarily halts its Gemini AI model after a controversy about depicting historical figures inaccurately. The decision follows social media backlash, with examples showing German WWII soldiers and Vikings portrayed as people of color. In response to the feedback, Google announced that it would pause the image generation feature for people while working on improvements. Although Google did not mention specific images in its statement, widespread examples of Gemini-generated images circulated online, prompting discussions about AI's challenges with accuracy and bias.
