Overview

The plugin is designed to display maps created using QGIS and exported via the qgis2web tool directly on WordPress websites. Users can easily implement maps by uploading the corresponding map files to a designated "gismaps_maps" directory within the WordPress content folder using FTP or SSH. After uploading, users can insert the maps into posts or pages using a shortcode generated through the plugin's interface. The plugin eases the process of integrating detailed, interactive maps into a WordPress site without requiring extensive technical know-how. Additionally, a sample map that connects to openstreetmap.org is provided for immediate demonstration, which can be removed at any time.

Easy Map Upload

  • Upload maps directly via FTP or SSH.
  • Organize maps in directories within 'gismaps_maps'.

Simple Integration

  • Use the Gis map tab to add maps to posts.
  • Generate and use shortcodes for easy embedding.

Sample Map Included

  • Comes with a sample map connected to openstreetmap.org.
  • Sample map can be deleted anytime.

Flexible Map Management

  • Each map is stored in its own directory.
  • Easily manage multiple maps within the wp-content directory.

User sentiment analysis

Users appreciate the WordPress plugin for its ability to easily embed maps created with QGIS in their WordPress websites, even on the latest WordPress version. They find it straightforward to display and manage map layers, which enhances their website's functionality. However, a significant drawback noted is the plugin's lack of recent updates, making users concerned about its long-term viability. There is also a clear demand for a comprehensive tutorial to assist especially newcomers in resolving common issues, such as shortcode errors. Despite its age, the core functionality remains reliable and effective for publishing maps.

Hi I am Jacky, the beginner of the WordPress user, I have a question want to be solved. I created a qgis2web folder and uploaded my qgis2web in named “gismaps_maps” within the wp-content directory. I am working on the localhost. Then, I wrote the DIRECTORY NAME (qgis2web), make a test, but it shows “No shortcode for this map”. And I can’t fix this problem. Can you make a tutorial of this plugins, it might be really helpful. This topic was modified 1 year, 9 months ago by jacky10201.

This topic was modified 1 year, 4 months ago by bosquimano.

Me parece fantástico poder poner los mapas que genero en qgis en la web que desarrollo con wordpress. Lástima que no se actualice. Ánimo para continuar Frank!
