Overview

The WordPress Image Optimizer plugin, Optimus, is designed to automatically reduce the file size of uploaded media files by up to 70%, improving the performance of blog websites without compromising image quality. It offers three versions: the free base version with restrictions, Optimus HQ for personal projects, and Optimus HQ PRO for professional use on customer websites. The plugin works by sending images to the Optimus server for compression during the upload process and saves the optimized images back in the media library. Key features include progressive JPEGs, bulk optimization, WebP format conversion, and support for WooCommerce and multisite environments. Optimus also maintains user privacy by immediately deleting files after optimization.

User sentiment analysis

Users appreciate that this WordPress plugin is easy to install and use, and it significantly optimizes images, improving website speed and SEO performance. Features like WebP support, bulk optimization, and automatic image compression during uploads are well-received. It also generates smaller image sizes without visible loss of quality, enhancing load times. However, drawbacks include the restrictive 100 KB limit on the free version and issues with optimizing all images, particularly those uploaded via API or already in archives. Some users are dissatisfied with the compression quality, as it might not always meet Google PageSpeed Insights' standards. The premium service had some reported issues with support and performance consistency.

The 100kb limit of the free version is very limiting and mostly serves like a demo. My disappointment was that even though i had the premium version and i optimized the images, google pagespeed still had the message that my images could be smaller.

Pourquoi perdre du temps quand un outil peut vous en faire gagner… Si vous avez des images trop lourdes qui peuvent ralentir votre site, c’est l’outil idéal. This topic was modified 5 years, 6 months ago by Coworking à Vannes.

A simple, fast and easy to use plugin that has great features to offer. I’ve purchased a key for the Pro version a few days ago and converted all my pictures to webP. My blog is faster than ever. If you care about your site’s speed, stop what you’re doing and purchase a key!
